Join us for a craft night as part of our of our French-immersion art workshop series!

Inspired by the French American sculptor, painter, filmmaker, and author of colorful hand-illustrated books Niki de Saint Phalle, Chicago-based French artist Floriane Roussel will lead a sculpture workshop exploring the idiosyncratic style of de Saint Phalle’s “outsider art”.

Guests will enjoy: 

  • A complimentary glass of French wine 
  • An opportunity to speak French with fellow Francophones
  • A chance to get crafty and go home with a new artistic creation

No previous art experience is required! All levels of French are welcome. 

Doors at 6:00 pm. Workshop at 6:30. Please enter via 54 W Chicago Ave. Non-alcoholic options will be available. Tickets are non-refundable after Wednesday, June 24—merci pour votre compréhension.

About the Artist

Niki de Saint Phalle, born Catherine Marie-Agnès Fal de Saint Phalle (1930–2002) was a French American sculptor, painter, filmmaker, and author of colorful hand-illustrated books. Widely noted as one of the few female monumental sculptors, Saint Phalle was also known for her social commitment and work.

About the Workshop Facilitator

Floriane Roussel

Floriane Roussel is a Chicago-based French painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. From big international campaigns to small French children’s books, Floraine adapts her unique style to all kinds of projects.

Getting Here

The Alliance Française de Chicago is one block from the CTA Red line stop at Chicago Avenue. Best bus routes are the 22 on Clark and the 66 on Chicago Avenue. A Divvy station is located in front of the 54 W Chicago Ave entrance.

Parking Information

$10 for 12 hours at 100 W Chestnut St. Validation is available at reception.
